Diabetes Control Information
Diabetes is so common in America any more it's
almost inconceivable that anyone doesn't have a good idea of
what it is and how it occurs.
The most important contribution this site can
make is this caution: Until diabetes is fairly advanced and
doing damage to the body, it can be relatively symptomless. Yet
it's detection is simple.
There are certain warning symptoms, and just
because you may be within the normal weight range for your body
type, it is NOT a valid assumption that you may not
ever develop this disease. Thin people DO develop
diabetes... but most of us know that the obese person is much
more likely. And as we know, most of Americans are over
weight.
Caught early, it can be controlled unless it is
of the "juvenille" variety. It all has to do both with
insulin production and insulin use. In the juvenile type,
the organ (Islets of Langerhorn) in the body quit producing all
together, and there's little that can be done except to
supplement the insulin. This is usally done via syringe or
pump.
But in the Adult Onset (and you don't have to
be an adult), it's more of an insulin use problem.. and this
can be controlled by weight control and eating. Exercise
is part of weight control.
Your first tip off you may be diabetic: Much
more urination than the average person. Alot of thirst... and
don't ignore it, or you'll add dehydration to your
problem.
Again, it is a simple test and if you think you
might tend toward it, see your doctor and have fasting blood
sugar test done. He or she will know. Catch it early and you
are relatively safe.
Let it go and you can lead to blindness, limb
amputation, stroke and a host of other diseases... and
financially, you'll also be tainted as you'll be unable to
obtain health insurance from most carriers.
